Spooky season is upon us 👻! If you can’t make up your mind for what to dress up like for Halloween or just want to be festive the whole month long…whatever your reason, with Lenses it’s easy to get into the festive spirit and share it with friends and family. You can transform yourself into anything you dream up. For example, generate a full body fairy costume with Body Morph or create a spooky goblin Lens using the Face Mask Generation feature. Any original costume or character you want is right at your fingertips in Lens Studio.
How Snapchatters Can Find Your Spooky Lenses
While making Halloween Lenses is fun, you also want to be sure Snapchatters can easily find your creations. To get your Lenses discovered on Snapchat, you need a Lens icon—a small but mighty PNG. This is critical to Lens discovery. Your Lens cannot be featured in the Lens Carousel without an icon, and Lens ranking favors Lenses with icons. In Project Settings, you can upload an image or generate your own with the new Icon Generation feature.
Don’t forget to leverage ‘Tags of the Month’ too. These are a great way your Lenses can get noticed and featured on Snapchat in places like the AR Bar, Collections, and Lens Explorer. The tags we provide each month are culturally relevant, trendy, and often tied to global and regional holidays. Every month, tagged Lenses earn millions of swipes, impressions, sends, and posts.
Over the past year, we’ve watched more and more Lens Creators use the tags as inspiration to create relevant and timely lenses that resonate with Snapchatters. But so far, Lens Creators were only notified of the new tags through a post to the Snap AR Discord. So we wanted to make that a better experience. We launched an updated way to view the tags of the month and added new functionality to apply the tags to your Lens. Now Lens Creators can view and tag Lens projects right from the home screen of Lens Studio.
Here’s how it works: browse the various tags of the month on the home screen, then select the tag you want to apply, and once selected it will be highlighted in yellow. You can then open your new project with these tags already applied! You can always edit the tags in Project Settings in Lens Studio or in My Lenses. Go forth, get in the Halloween spirit, and gear up for Fall with so many more festivities that are trending this month! Check out all the tags:
