  • Lens Studio AI Assistant got a visual update! You can find it under Window > “AI Assistant”.

  • Animation APIs have been overhauled with imports now producing a new Animation asset and a new AnimationPlayer Component. This single Asset + Component pair makes it easier to work with imported animations in the inspector. This is especially helpful for targeting them at meshes like are provided separately like Bitmojis. 

  • The Friend API allows Lens developers to add dynamic friend info into their Lenses including Bitmojis, zodiac, and streak counts.

    • The new Friend custom component allows Lens Creators to easily use the API with multiple pre-populated sorting options, filters, and outputs for creating different personalized AR content.

    • New sample projects that showcase how to build AR experiences with dynamic Friend info: Friends Sorting, and This or That.

  • Bitmoji 3D component update - now supports new version of avatar, allows access to friend’s avatar or My AI avatar, provides ability to apply animation. Additionally we release Bitmoji 3D source rig (Maya) to allow users to create custom animations to their Bitmoji Avatar.

  • A new Installed Content tab in the Application Preferences allows managing installed and registered Custom Components.

  • Explore the new addition of templates as assets in the Asset Library. Discover popular effects like Background Image or Hair Color within the Custom Components and Essentials Category. 

  • New “Ring Binding” custom component to enable easy creation of ring try-on experiences.

Known Issues
  • Script Graph is largely not functional. Graphs will not execute in the scene or in published lenses. Most nodes are not addable.

  • In Snapchat 12.83 AnimationAssets with only a single animation event will only ever fire that event once.

  • In Snapchat 12.83 animation events near the beginning and end of clips may not fire.

  • In Lens Studio and Snapchat 12.83 + 12.84 AnimationPlayer will play animations even when disabled.

  • In Lens Studio and Snapchat 12.83 + 12.84 all SceneObjects under an AnimationPlayer will be enabled if any animation is playing.
