AI Clips in Lens Studio:
How to Create Photo-to-Video AI
Lenses on Snapchat

AI Clips are a new AI-powered Lens format in Lens Studio that transforms a single photo into a five-second video using a closed prompt system. AI video has been everywhere lately, but most of it feels distant, technical, or disconnected from real people. With the launch of AI Clips in Lens Studio, Snapchat is changing that narrative by making AI video instant, personal, and shareable. AI Clips introduce a new kind of photo to video experience: one tap, one image, and suddenly a five-second video brings your imagination to life. Now, for the first time, developers can build and publish photo to video AI from the GenAI Suite in Lens Studio.

At their core, AI Clips are Snapchat Lenses that transform a Snap or Camera Roll photo into a five-second AI video. The magic lies in the closed-prompt design. Any developer can now define the creative direction, and Snapchatters simply tap to step into it. The result feels effortless for the Snapchatter, yet intentional and expressive for the creator. A single photo can suddenly place someone on a red carpet, free-falling through the sky, or sharing a surreal moment with a friend. It’s photo to video storytelling that feels personal, cinematic, and share-ready.

The AI Clips feature is in the GenAI Suite in Lens Studio, making it easy to create whether you’re an experienced developer or just getting started. Writing a prompt is the creative heart of the process. Your prompt becomes the engine behind a five-second AI video Lens that can be published to Snapchat in minutes. There’s no need for external tools or complex workflows. Lens Studio handles the generation, the Lens format, and the distribution—all in one place.

What makes AI Clips stand out in the broader AI video landscape is what they don’t try to be. They aren’t open-ended, text-to-video tools or experimental demos. They are closed-prompt AI experiences designed for scale, creativity, and repeat engagement. There’s currently nothing else on the market that combines closed-prompt AI video generation with direct photo input, real distribution, and monetization—especially at Snapchat’s scale.

AI Clips are available to Lens+ subscribers, which means developers can earn money from engagement with their AI Clip Lenses. Once published, AI Clips are automatically monetizable, allowing developers to turn prompt creativity into rewards. For developers enrolled in Lens+ Payouts, this opens the door to earning directly from the experiences they design.

AI Clips are designed for anyone curious about the future of AI-powered creativity. Hobbyist developers can experiment and publish without friction. Creators interested in photo to video AI can explore a new expressive medium. And developers looking to monetize their ideas now have a clear path to do so. Whether you’re building for fun, for learning, or for income, AI Clips meet you where you are.
